| Heather Knutson, a graduate student at Harvard University, maps distant planets. Using NASA’S Spitzer Space Telescope, she and her team have produced a weather map for the planet HD 189733b. She found that the winds on the planet blow about eight times faster than the speed of sound on Earth. Add that the temperatures vary between 1200 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit, and the planet is not a vacation spot. |
